This is a tad out of order, but I didn't want to leave it out.
On Tuesday, October 29 Priya's class visited the Coleman Fish Hatchery. It's a whole new experience to be a parent chaperone on field trips! How did Priya already get to this age?!
We started out the morning by observing some of the normal class activities before leaving for the field trip.
Then we were off to the fish hatchery. We weren't totally prepared for the weather and ended up getting soaked by rain (oddly enough it didn't rain in Redding that day at all and I didn't think that it would be necessary to check for a different forecast in an area just 30 minutes away). Priya was a bit miserable as much of the tour was outdoors but she ended up having fun in the end.
Off to check out the salmon eggs...
They got to touch the eggs...
They also got to pay a visit to some dead animals in a huge freezer! (?!?!) There were mountain lions and bears in there that had been shot on the property. Not my idea of fun but on we go...
The salmon mascot made everyone's day at the end of the tour.
